...RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM PDT THIS EVENING FOR STRONG WEST TO NORTHWEST WINDS AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FOR THE ANTELOPE VALLEY AND ADJACENT WESTERN FOOTHILLS... * WINDS...West to northwest 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 50 mph, except damaging gusts up to 60 mph in the western portions of the Antelope Valley. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Falling to 10 to 20 percent by this afternoon. * IMPACTS...Any grass fires that develop will likely spread rapidly with extreme fire behavior, with the potential for long range spotting and large fire growth. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...While the best overlap of strong winds and low humidities will likely occur during the Red Flag Warning period, there will be an extended elevated fire threat persisting through Sunday due to gusty winds and low to moderate humidities. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. Use extreme caution with anything that can spark a wildfire. Residents near wildland interfaces should be prepared to evacuate if a wildfire breaks out. Widespread power outages are possible. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Wind speeds may drop well below warning levels at times during the daytime hours. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Watch for falling debris and tree limbs. Use caution if you must drive. &&
