...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 145 AM EDT TUESDAY...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Portions of northeast New Jersey, including the following
counties, Bergen, Essex and Passaic and southeast New York,
including the following counties, Bronx, Nassau, New York
(Manhattan), Queens and Westchester.

* WHEN...Until 145 AM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is
imminent.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 1146 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain
have fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts of around 0.5 to 1 inch are
expected over the area. This additional rain will result in
minor flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Yonkers, Paterson, New Rochelle, Flushing, Passaic, Mott
Haven, Bloomfield, East Tremont, Hackensack, Bergenfield,
Paramus, Lyndhurst, Rutherford, Ridgefield, Great Neck,
Laguardia Airport, Throgs Neck Bridge, Harlem, Riverdale and
Bayside.
- This includes the following Event Locations...
New York/New Jersey Stadium.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the

The areas affected include...

Long Island Sound West of New Haven CT / Port Jefferson NY...

At 1127 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated strong thunderstorms, capable
of producing winds to around 30 knots. These thunderstorms were
located along a line extending from 8 nm west of Eastchester Bay to
near Saddle Rock, moving northeast at 20 knots.

Eastchester Bay, Execution Rocks, Hempstead Harbor, Saddle Rock,
Baxter Estates, Little Neck Bay, and Manhasset Bay around 1135 PM
EDT.
Mamaroneck Harbor around 1145 PM EDT.
Oyster Bay Harbor around 1150 PM EDT.
Cold Spring Harbor around 1155 PM EDT.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher
waves, lightning strikes, and heavy downpours. Boaters should seek
safe harbor immediately until these storms pass.
