...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 130 AM EDT WEDNESDAY... * WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of central South Carolina, including the following counties, Calhoun, Lexington and Richland. * WHEN...Until 130 AM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Some low-water crossings may become impassable. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is expected. Areas around Five Points and downtown Columbia expected to have minor flooding issues in low lying areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1139 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms moving into the Columbia metro area. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Between 1-2 inch per hour rain rates possible. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Columbia, Lexington, West Columbia, Cayce, Irmo, Forest Acres, Springdale, St. Andrews, Oak Grove, Dentsville, Red Bank, South Congaree, Pine Ridge, Gaston, Arcadia Lakes, West Columbia Riverwalk, SC State Fair Grounds, Five Points, Riverbanks Zoo and SC State Farmer's Market. - This includes the following highways... Interstate 126 between mile markers 0 and 3. Interstate 26 between mile markers 105 and 122. Interstate 20 in South Carolina between mile markers 55 and 80. Never drive through a flooded roadway or around barricades. Turn around, don't drown. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. &&
